1st Gathering this holiday

First gathering since i came back for this holiday. Here i shall post pics even if Mr Teh doesn't want me to. >.<

This is one thing in Yoyo which no one should ever order... it's called a Pearl Ice i think... and it's so sweet that your tongue threatens to fall right off... and this is how it looks when it's almost completely melted... when it first got to the table, it looked as if Rylai had blasted her freezing field over it. =.="

Anyway, these are the people who attended....

Mr Chung, Ms Chieng, Mr Teh, Mr Ong, Mr Lee and myself...

Corn

Hi again!! I've been on holiday for some time, but haven't done much blogging.. >.< Mostly because there isn't much to blog about... and no pictures worth taking... though it DID flood a couple of weeks ago.... which... i have one picture of...

Anyway, it's one of those lazy days... and i was wondering what to have for lunch... when suddenly i had an urge to gobble down lots of Corn... of all things... and that's exactly what i did... ^^

Being in KL for long stretches of time, one of the things i miss is corn... not actually sweet corn, but rather the fat, stunted cousin of the sweet corn... Hehe... Jagung pulut...
and so, i drove down to Foh Sang and got RM4 worth of that stuff... a total of 7 ears... ^^

Well... like any other corn, i need to start off by cleaning these.... notice how short and fat they are?? I doubt they actually get much bigger than this.... and that tuft of 'hair' that sticks out is just cute... haha....

The difference is.... this corn is best prepared boiled... not steamed, like sweet corn... probably because the kernels are actually quite tough and don't pop like that of regular sweet corn... but somehow i prefer these....

hehehhe.... FOOD!!! Am i gonna eat all that by myself?? Well, since it's lunch, that's the idea!! ^^

While waiting... in other news..

the canine displayed below is one of the finalists in the running for the title of World's Stupidest Dog... =.="... this refers to the white one with black spots...
Finally!! ^^

All this talk of corn and eating corn reminds me of a line... can any of you recognize it...? ^^

Mort: [voice-over] "I know I can do it," Todd Downey said, helping himself to another ear of corn from the steaming bowl. "I'm sure that in time, every bit of her will be gone and her death will be a mystery... even to me."

HELLO again!! ^^

...Anyone with the knowledge as to how to blog via mobile, with the ability of actually uploading pics and videos for the posts? cuz the one i get only has words... =.=" that wouldn't be quite sufficient... after all, having 100% words with no pictures makes me post seem somewhat like... rant?

In other news.... there hasn't really been anything interesting going on with my life lately... so i shall blog about the most "special" mundane thing i had come across...

Anyone here a fan of CORNED BEEF? ^^
I'm not sure about how things are in KL, but back in KK, i know corned beef doesn't normally cost much... but down here, they don't carry the brand which i eat back home... and the only ones they carry have prices starting from RM7... which is A LOT to pay for corned beef....

However, the one that caught my eye next took 'expensive Corned beef' to a WHOLE new level... >.<

Observe.... Carrefour... and two brands of Reasonable looking Corned beef, both from BRAZIL...

And the fact that one's on PROMOTION!! ^^

However... notice the fact that the Price box in the "promosi" sign is left empty... hmmm...

Solution : Do a price check at the scanner....

So this can came up to about RM7++... pain... for corned beef... but... still 'buyable'...

Next, the red can...

...Are you able to see the price the scanner is showing...? This is the can that was on Promotion...

Sorry for the blur picture, but this was the best i could do... my phone camera did NOT like the brightness of the scanner screen.... the display is showing "RM 250.00"....

What corned beef is this???? RM250??? That's daylight robbery....

(hint: click to enlarge the picture... you'll get a better view of the numbers that way)
...even the Sultan of Brunei would think that was overkill.... the only explanation which somewhat made sense can from Aaron Chelliah...."Ini lembu dari Kayangan...."

=.="

Moral of the story.... avoid awkward moments at the checkout counter by checking the price of any item which you're not already sure about... no matter HOW INNOCENT they may look....

Made In China

Today's post gets its title from this box. ^^ Naturally, this post would have something or another to do with the item in the box and the fact that it was manufactured in China. Needless for me to mention, many people have a certain 'regard' towards China made products, whether as being unsafe, generally distasteful or having some gripes as to the quality. Well, as the general rule stands, you get what you pay for. Although I do not condemn all China-made products, i still find a relative amount of truth in the statements regarding the unsatisfactory quality of China-made products. Well, to put simply, where would the talk come from, and be supported by the masses had it not held at least a fraction of truth?

Well, anyway.... today i present u... the Laptop Aeroplane Fan (we shall stick to this name because the product's original name is just weird, as we shall see)...

And the box... notice the name given....

It has a FULL range of features...

Sounds pretty cool, doesn't it...? ^^ I got it for free at the Pikom Pc Fair,by the way...

and now...

The Pin that burst my bubble....

Observe the back of the plane where the cable is suppose
d to go...

I know the images aren't big, but please bear with me... like i said, i'm left with handphone cameras... and if you look closely, you might just notice the metal 'prong' somewhere in the centre of the hole...

And now observe the cable that came in the box...

Common sense screams in my head asking "...AND HOW IS THIS SUPPOSED TO WORK??!!!"

sometimes it really puzzles me how people can come up with products manufactured as poorly as this... Thankfully i got it free, and therefore, won't be doing anything apart from complaining and ranting on and on about it.... however... if i had PAID for it, well, there might have been a different story there... Did you notice how much the item costs in the first place?

Not a cheap unusable ornament..... PPPFFFFTTTT!!!....... =.="

Unusual...

It's been a long time since i've posted anything.... haha... my camera's pretty much dead; it needs a new battery... and until i can get that sorted out, i'm gonna have to rely on the cameras on my phones, which don't exactly provide very sharp pictures... however, beggars can't be choosers, and i guess it's better than nothing...

Here are a couple of things i found to be a little odd but nonetheless amusing.... i wish there was more i could add, but i haven't exactly come across anything else of interest....

Exhibit A
This is a picture taken at Watsons at the Curve. I know this could be a perfectly innocent item, but somehow the name simply caught my eye.... Had i been told the name offhand, i would have thought it to be some mental disorder which had to do with strange barnyard-animal-fetish... but... that's just me... >.< wonder if anyone esle would have thought of that... of all things... hehe

Exhibit B

I caught sight of this fella at Giant in City Mall, supposedly placed there to help market school uniforms, as the new school semester is about to begin. However, i noticed he donned a pretty awkward hairstyle, that is, assuming it was in fact a HE, as the uniform would suggest.... it really made me wonder whether someone had done that to the manequin on purpose, out of sheer stupidity, or didn't care less and was ignorant to the message it might be delivering to the people... after all, who buys school uniforms? Well, children of course, and their parents... that's right... lots and lots of untainted little minds for your defiling pleasure... well, if the school authorities begin noticing their male students adopting a somewhat 'controversial' choice of hair-do, at least we'll know where their inspiration came from....
